Hi there,
I am a Permanent Resident of Canada from past 2 years living in Calgary and filing my taxes from past 2 years regurarly.
Now, from next month I would be travelling with my husband to USA and then to India. I would be spending most of my time in USA. My question are :-
1.> Since I will not have any job starting next month, but I still wanna file my taxes in 2005. Can I do that ?
2.> I am maintaining my Canadian ties in following ways :-
- Have a valid drivers class 7 licence.
- have a current bank account.
- have a RSP account
- will be paying off my mastercard and Visa bills online. and also performing current transactions.
- will also make sure to put in atleast 50 dollars every month in my RSP account every month.
Do I need to anything more to the Government that I have ties with Canada , although I am travelling to USA and India. ?
3.> I have my family living here.
Can I still file my taxes next year or not ?
Is there any more proof required to show government that I have ties in canada?
Please help.

taxes
im no accountant but as per my info u can file tax even if u are staying outside canada for most of the year since u are accruing income and expenses via .. interest on money in bank and credit card bills.
there are tax treaties between india-can and canada-us so incase ur working either in india or us .. u can choose to file returns in canada without getting taxed in both countries.

You will pay taxes first where you are a resident of - India or USA and then file taxes in canada and get a foreign tax credit for those taxes paid.
You will not be "double - taxed" but you have to file taxes in canada on your world income ("may" of may not in other country )
