Here is the minimum Education requirement under NAFTA for Accountant: Baccalaureate or Licenciatura Degree; or C.P.A., C.A., C.G.A. or C.M.A.
Question: If Canadian Citizen obtains CPA from AICPA; will he/she be eligible for TN Visa?
My understanding is that CPA given in requirement is for Chartered Professional Accountant (new designation instead of CGA, CMA and CA).
Any thoughts

NO.
You will need an EMPLOYER to hire you. He will have to issue an employment letter with a suitable salary, commensurate with your experience or rank.
In most cases if the Immigration Officer at the Border feels, which they currently do, that you will take away a job from one of the US Citizen, then, he has every right to refuse you entry and a TN Visa to work.
My two nickels.
FH.
Sinc AICPA is a governing body, the CPA should be recognized when applying for TN status. Any reason why you think there might be issues?
In any case, the TN officer at the POE will assess all educational credentials before approving. If you have a relevant degree plus CPA, your chances for approval is very high. If you have a liberal arts degree and a CPA designation, they may challenge your qualifications for the job. If you don't have a degree at all or have an unrelated degree and carry a CPA with many years of related experience, you might be ok.

Nope. US and Cdn credentials are accepted. I can't speak for Mexican credentials (since that is part of TN as well). Anything outside of that needs some form of assessement.
