We have been using Quicktaxweb online to do our taxes for last couple of years. The interface is user friendly and it is also inexpensive.

We used StudioTax. It is free and works perfectly fine. There's absolutely NO SENSE in paying for these softwares especially when free ones are out there.

It is a good idea to do taxes by yourself rather than going to a tax preparer who do not know to handle complexities. However it makes more sense to go to a knowledgeable tax consultant especially when you have little more complexities.
