I agree with their choices for the federal and state polls respectively. Modi can somewhat mitigate corruption at federal level while providing best administrative abilities of the lot that is being presented to the country. Lok Satta, Anna and even AAP can show the way for local governance.
Totally agree. At present, Modi will be a better PM and AAP should be given a chance at state level governance first and then bring them at Central level. We all know that AAP people are honest, educated and have right ideas, all they need to show that they can implement correctly. We all should encourage AAP at state level not only in Delhi and Punjab but other states too.
In Punjab it seems AAP is likely to get most of the seats. It will be nice to see AAP sitting in opposition and whoever comes to the power will have to perform. AAP will work as an auditor.
How many seats you think AAP will get on 16th May? Any guess?

To be honest with you, I have dim view of both TDP and Jayaprakash Narayan. But considering the alternatives, and also considering the natural churning occurring in democratic processes every few years, these two are logical choices in my neck of the woods as they are either aligned with or outside supporters of BJP.
This is the best BJP can do in AP/Telengana. We are sick of having to choose between tweedledum and tweedledee(read Congress and un-aligned TDP) for the last 40+ years. Time to give others a chance in these states at both state and federal level. But it is not a sure thing.
AAP would be much better if Kejriwal and his coterie are let go. The party needs to be cleansed of the crazies at the leadership level.
There are many good, decent people who have joined the party with a positive agenda of bringing change and improvement in Indian body politic. They could be harnessed for the same sans the Kejri coterie. Wishful thinking I guess.
AAP has no presence in deep south, Deccan and in eastern parts of the country. India is at a very crucial stage of her existence, has been brought down to her knees(by design, I personally believe) and therefore needs a strong federal party with decisive leadership. Regional parties have rightly coalesced around BJP and Modi for this purpose.
BJP' problems are opposite in nature. Leadership is good, but the rank and file level netas and people down the line in lower echelons are riffraff although they are disciplined.
Contrary to popular mood in the country, Modi is not BJP and the BJP is not Modi. There are too many fossils and inept leaders in the party thus severely hampering Modi's performance, at least in the initial years.
Congress has to go, both in center and at the state level. Unki toh batti bhujgayi iss baar .

Nice post and good analysis - largely agree with your thoughts.
AAP started with good intentions but their implementation strategy was too raw/amature-ish with very high chances of failing. Well meaning does not necessarily mean well done - the devil is in the detail. After the performance in Delhi they totally lost their focus and purpose in trying to expand too fast too soon.
Having said that, would like the 'concept' of AAP to grow and spread starting at the grass root levels. Elimination of corruption is impossible until the AAM ADMI does not change himself. Starting with their own members, if AAP is able to practise strict non-corruption - it will be the spark for future fireworks. Every member needs to take an oath of not accepting or GIVING bribes for any work - and yet being able to get their work done within available legal resources.
Good things about Modi is that he is an excellent administrator and tough task master, has an excellent grasp at marketing and turning adverse situations into favourable. Does not seem to be corrupt himself - except being ambitious (if that qualifies as corruption in someone's dictionary).
His short coming - authoritarian and in the company of embarrassing party members. He needs to develop a dynamic team which is not 'scared' of him and can operate independently based on the administrations principles.
In the short run - he is the only hope to turn things around for the country. Will need to wait for a few years to see if he can really deliver even 25% of hope he has given to the voters.
2 weeks to go for the final results.
Wish Indians all the luck.

Some very good thoughts in the posts above , welcome change ! thanks to EF for triggering so.
Seems like we are still expecting a lot from the leaders and parties. There is no magic wand, no matters who comes to power. One person can do as much. There always be bad apple triggering the rot. Modi will feel the loneliness soon which MMS felt.
The only solution is in collective effort, when janta gets cautious about governing , feels responsible and start to keep constant vigil and leaders obey and lead the change. Indirectly, I am talking about the cultural change. AAP's idea gives a hint of such cultural change, it mobilize the mass and media to contribute and will NOT let the power to concentrate with one or two (thats where the exploitation begins).

My guess is - BJP alone (not NDA) - 175, Congress (not UPA) - 75, AAP - 10.

Going by the popularity Modi received close to the election days and the disaaray of UPA/Congress during the same period, it can be minimum 240 for BJP and 300 for NDA.
Meanwhile the uttering of intellectuals like Amratya Sen and N.Ram is amazing. We really do not understand why non-minority or majority religion should not become PM.
