I just happened to watch this movie last week, it was really good. Pretty simple subject and the set. But it has clearly sent a picture of the sufferings of kids with single parents from kid's angle.

Very nice movie. I wish the end was more clearly spelt out though. I always hate movies that leave you kind of suspended.
Loved some of the scenes in the movie - where the father holds Simin's hand firmly, when the son is bathing his father and crying - I also observed that religion is very deeply woven with truth.
Pretty nuanced film. I will watch it again in a couple of years and see if I understand it differently then.
The Dad (of the kid) has genuine reason not to leave, there is no one to take care of the severely affected Father (did she speak about any recourse, I might have missed it), the mom focuses on the next generation, which is acceptable when the old generation is intact which is not the case as depicted in the movie.
The kid's acting was subtle, she is the daughter of the Director, so not a new face to the field of acting.

Left Home alone to kids now, mostly watch Christmas with Kranks, Planes trains and automobiles during this season repeatedly every year.

Watched "Gone Girl" last night, very gripping movie. Can't believe how 2.5 hours went by. IMDB rates it 8.5.

Can we please refrain from the spoilers when discussing a movie? Or, may be add a line in the subject: Spoilers Alert.
For the movies I want to watch, I do it without knowing anything at all about it - not even synopsis.
Another option for me is to avoid the thread completely. But, that's too hard .
On a side/related note - watch Nightcrawler. Worth every minute.
Anyhow! Please carry on.
Merry Christmas.
Separation movie director Asghar Farhadi does the post production of his movies in Chennai.

In a interview in a tamil magazine called Ananda Vikatan he lamb lasted the tamil movies after he learnt about their budgets. He said that he can make several movies at the cost of a one tamil movie.
He literally became unconscious when he heard the price Rajnikanth commands.
He also said that he cannot afford A.R.Rahman for music.
Very simple guy and he wants indian movies to move back to their for values than plain entertainment.
What a talent from Iran. Recently I was talking to my Iranian friend who is a political refugee in Canada and got his family wealth stolen by the Iranian government for opposing the former president Mahmoud ahmedinajad.
The official religion of Iran is Islam(Shia). You like it or not you are a Muslim. But many of these guys so forward thinking and as good as an atheist. They do not believe in Islam. This was a revelation to me that not all Iranians are the same. The ruling elite controls the economy and siphons money out. Just like Gujarat alcohol is prohibited in Iran but just like Gujarat you can get everything for a price.
My friend longs for the day when they could go back to Shah of Iran days.
One bunch of Mullahs put the clock back in Iran but at least 50 years.
Sounds familiar to Hindu rasthra as propounded by RSS.
If not we would have 100's of Ashgar Farhadi's.
This movie has been shown on our own CBC.
