India Court Orders 21 Websites to Remove 'Objectionable Content'
By Menachem Kaiser
A court in Delhi has ordered 21 very major websites — including Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Youtube —to remove all derogatory content by February 6. If they don't comply, the websites will be charged with contempt of court.
And just what is this objectionable content? The complaints note online material that is "anti-religious" — obscene and derogatory pictures and articles aimed at Prophet Mohammed, Jesus Christ and various Hindu gods — and "anti-social," which is, well, who knows.
Or in court-speak:
"It appears from a bare perusal of the documents that prima facie the accused in connivance with each other and other unknown persons are selling, publicly exhibiting and have put into circulation obscene, lascivious content which also appears to the prurient interests and tends to deprave and corrupt the persons who are likely to read, see or hear the same."
The court action appears to be a direct result of a grand total of two complaints, one from a journalist and the other from the guy who runs the website fatwaonline.com.

These websites will open now a paid section where content rated otherwise as derogatory will be published under a fancy name such as Restricted or Mature or freestyle etc and one needs to pay as premier account with special terms to access the special material. Business houses are well aware of tactics of making best out of worst situations.
Let the countries fool around with rules and bans those who love to hate will not abstain.
I can see people paying for vices like pornography, but do you really think people will pay to read comments about religion? I think people should be free to comment on religion, and when narrow minded people write hateful things others can refute that and if illegal activity like hate crime is advocated, the crimes should be dealt with. I guess my problem is with the expression itself being policed, because who is to decide what ideas are too offensive? It will vary from person to person and the government can't protect everyone's feelings.

This is just a case of an overzealous magistrate wanting to see his name in print. Nothing is going to happen, excepting this magistrate being transfered to some god forsaken place or he will end up getting a ticket from a poltical party to fight next election !!!!
This is similar to the famous Richard Gere - Shilpa Shetty kissing case, where ultimately supreme court had to step. Let's wait till Feb 6 ...... no one is going to ban anything !!!!
Reliance ISP is blocking to all those sites were in people can watch DON 2 or download the movie so that they can maximize their profits.
