Now, there have been many great cricket teams and there will be many more...but till now, what team do u think has been the most unforgettable ?...I can only think of 1 team...
The 1983 West Indian team that toured India.....

Gordon Greenidge
Desmond Haynes
Hillary Angelo Gomes
Viv Richards
Gus Logie
Clive Lloyd
Jeff Dujon
Malcolm Marshall
Michael Holding
Andy Roberts
Joel Garner
Winston Davis
Floyd Bachus

This team was, IMO, the best world cricket has ever seen....An opponents nightmare...
Start off with Greendige and Haynes....huff and puff....get one out...in comes Richards...you are gone if he is in good form !....So you get one more out...out comes Larry Gomes.... patient as ever.....whew ! he is also gone....in comes Lloyd.. those wicked short arm pulls (Remmeber anyone, those Thums Up Flickers !)....
etc. etc...Logie and Dujon..and even Marshall !....

Now you want to chase their total !....Welcome to Malcolm Marshall...that cross run up..those off cutters....and not to forget those vicious bouncers !....(someone called Mike Gatting will remember him :D)... okay... get set to be hit from another end....Michael Holding and of cos Winston Davis/Andy Roberts !
But if you want shoulder length balls...welcome to the Big Bird..aka Joel Garner...

Truly..this team, imo has been and will be the greatest team that ever straddled this earth !

And yet, this is the exactly the team a bunch of bits-and-pieces cricketers from India managed to beat, not once, but twice in the '83 world cup! Once in the prelims if I'm correct, and then in the finals, to create an upset of sorts! Aah, will we see such a day again?!

OK, they had their revenge soon after, upon their arrival to India, but still the World cup win must have really hurt them.

Also, it was against these same set of bowlers that our little master had scored 13 centuries including a few double hundreds!

The current ruthless Aussies, on the other hand, have not let their guards down, no matter who the opponents were, especially on tournaments as big as the world cup. Kolkatta 2001 and Adelaide 2004 were exceptions though..

Jughead as you know.... "Har Kutte ka ek na ek din aata hai"....
And as you said...Exceptions do occur... The current aussie team is good but the glamour that is associated with those batsmen and fast bowlers of the 1983 WI team... is unmatched.... Matthew Hayden vs Desmond Haynes (no comparison) :D

Mine would be

Saeed Anwar
Sachin Tendulkar
Ricky ponting
Damien Martyn (because of his form over last 2 yrs)
Jaques Kallis
Andy Flintoff
Kumara Sangakara
Shoaib Malik
Shane Warne(even though he has retired from ODIs i'd still have him in any team)
Steve Harmison(of last summer)
Glenn Mcgrath

This is not an all time team just my favourite

As i said it is my most favourite team so it might even have included Wasim Akram as well but did'nt.
I think Adam Gilchrist is just a bit too obvious i mean he can be in anyone's team he is that good so i thought lets just give it a change

I was talking to a friend at work and he said that Saeed anwar left cricket after the death of his daughter. Returned briefly and then left again.

One of my favourite players.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
