There was this interesting news on Times of India about the prospects of Vajpayee and Musharraf bagging Nobel Peace prize.

I am not so optimistic about that. What do you all think ?

A General who at one time or another has supported Organizations like Taliban???

I guess the US is pretty happy with him, so that counts a lot.

If these two personality are considered than chance of Mussharaf getting it is more than AB reason being his close relations with US. US will support Mussharaf.

Vajpayees odds are 1 in 200.. and he is on 30th position according to some speculations. But.. if Greece can win Euro Cup... then anything can happen

I am really surprised to see his name for Nobel Peace prize.. may be he should have been nominated for Literature for his poems..

Vajpayee & Musharaff for the Nobel peace prize

Musharaff, Sure why not ;)

I am all for it as long as you dont forget to give one each to the friends of mankind and Musharraf's idols- Hitler, Himmler, Zia, Idi Amin, Gaddafi, Castro, Saddam, khoemini & Osama too. maybe they (or their ghosts)can be present for the presentation. Guests invited for the presentation can be from the Nuremberg jurists, IRA, CIA, Taliban, LeT, Hizbullah, LTTE, Shining path, Red ray and the rest of the gang. Human rights watch, UN, War crimes tribunal and all law enforcement agencies could stand and applaud too.

AB ?

for ? Poetry - which only he reads ? the most corrupt Coalition government in 57 years ? Being assosiated with the most famous mosque busters & muslim bashers ? Nuclear testing ? Inviting over 200 economic and trade embargoes on the country from all over the world- some of which continue to be in force, getting both knee replacement operations done at tax payers money, taking 5 minutes to say what ordinarily takes a minute for the laziest man to read !

Jokes apart, AB is on the personal front a good enough man to head the country (when compared with the pack of wolves from whom we would have had to chose otherwise), pity that he was identified with all this (though some of the above are his own doing) through his close assosiates who were pulling him down and would have succeeded him as PM after some months had BJP stayed in power the second term. He was having enough problems brewing from all fronts, including his deputy PM (who was just dying to be a PM ji- and there had been such announcements too by way of testing the water - but it became clear to the party that without AVB they couldnt exist in POWER. The idiosyncracies of the others could get them cheap popularity and the uneducated hindu vote too, but no onne would take kindly to these things once when they become a govt in power - after which they have a responsibilty to the country as a whole and cant favour a vote class, then those stunts dont work- only ABV had it in him to keep BJP going. But he was losing it towards the end- threatening to resign at every instance.

It was commendable how he, despite the shortcomings of his coalition govt, managed to pull along a whole dead train -but i seriously doubt whether he would have lasted the second term.

I was even sorry to see him having to step down, though glad that it was Manmohan Singh who took over, a similar man with a cleaner slate and who used to drive a Maruti 800 cc himself :) A man who lost last time because he was in the wrong party !

All said & done what ABV did was for himself (and his party) and a well deserved grand culmination of a long political career, being fair to the man, it was only right that he did beome PM once, but thats it - thats as far as i can grant him - not enough for a noble prize - that too for PEACE. For God's sake he couldnt maintain peace in his own party.

This years nomination list for the peace prize is pretty cocked too. The reason being that there havent been any significant moves by a single person or organisation in the world. So maybe thats what is driving the committee nuts to go as far (or low) as considering people like the two above along with Tony Blair (of Iraq fame), George W Bush (of even greater Iraq fame) :p

Though there are some people on the list who have done a fair amount of work in the restoration of peace, the IAEA director or even the former Czech President for that matter have served long with distinction.

Regards

SF

Hi Mercury my friend ;)

I AM SO SORRY TO HAVE DONE THAT - PAINTED THOSE WONDERFUL KIND HEARTED PEOPLE WITH THE SAME BRUSH (NEROLAC PAINT)- I AM ON MY KNEES- PLEASE FORGIVE ME - DEAR SIR - I KNOW NOT THAT I SINNED THUS :(

I had no idea that you just LOVE Castro - Right ?(kiss his pic every morning - \"oh Lord Castro how i would die to be like thou.....enslave the masses....\" Hitler too ? Osama sucks though, huh ?

Had i known - i wouldnt have dared thus.

Then again on the other had it may have been my fault really- It might have been kind of too heavy to comprehend - hmm ?

I apologise profuselyand promise to use simple straightforward words and sentences thus formed out of those words only next post onwards - just so that they dont strain the BRAIN.

Trust me i never meant it to be that complicated ;) allow me dear Sir, to draw your attention to the term \\\"satire\\\" ? (its page No 744 - Oxford concise english 2001 edition - Oxford university press) That should help somewhat.

Oh any more problems in the contri apart from the one you brought out ?

Ok no harm done, incase you are going to read it again - let me suggest that you do that S....L.....O......W.....L.......Y and C.....A......R.....E.......F.....U......L........L.......Y.
Try and pay attention to the phrase" friends of humanity" too.

Let me know if the words in the other parts soound heavy or without meaning too - about the jurists, shining path and HRW. I may have to explain those parts too.

Any further problems feel free to ask :D

Regards ;)
