Proof of funds as Canadian Check

My Canadian Uncle is ready to help me in showing proof of funds . Can a Check in my name by him be shown as proof of funds at time of landing at port of entry . If not what could be best way he can help me .I dont want to break my FD etc now as I am planning to go back in about three weeks . thanks

I'd suggest a bank draft as opposed to a check.

Is it possible to get draft in U.S dollars which can be deposited in Canadian Banks?
I am landing in Canada soon and may return within short period. If I do not require this draft money I may bring it back and deposit in FCNR account in India. Due to the exchange rate fluctuation in Canadian dollar rates, I feel taking draft in U.S.$ may help to avoid loss.
Please give you suggestions.

You have to check with the issuing bank if they'll issue you a US$ draft drawn on a Canadian bank. Canadian banks will accept a US$ draft.

I assume you are planning to open a US $ account in Canada

See response above. You can minimize the loss due to exchange rate, by opening a US$ a/c in Canada

Get a draft. Cheques [even if spelt properly] are not acceptable.
