Hi Guys/gals,
I am a prospective immigrant from India to Canada which is getting processed for last 4 years due to some reason or other. I have been asked to provide Proof of funds by the CIC and I had been providing the same for the last 2 years.
Now my doubt is can I show the Fixed deposits which are on my fathers name as Proof of funds as I do not want to break the FD and take a new FD as joint account??
Dear Rajesh,
I don't think u can show somebody else's FD as your own. CIC just wants to be sure that u wud have the money when u land which is difficult to ascertain if u r showing somebody else's account. You might want to show your father's account, I might want to show that my uncle is loaded !! So I guess, u just might have to go in for a transfer. In case of a joint account with your wife, it might be O.K. (if she is accompanying u) but with your father - how r u going to prove that all the money in that joint account is at your disposal ? Especially if your father is the principal applicant of the account. My suggestion wud be since u r almost thru (its already been 4 years and your application wud come thru soon) don't give any room for doubt to CIC.
However, let's see what others have say. Maybe they come up with something better which might save u all the trouble.
Best of luck,
If your name is in joint a/c with your father, it will not be a problem.
Thanks & rgds.
Rajan.

Thanks for the inputs Rajrani and Rajan. One more question regarding that. We are a family of three and for that I need to show around 6 lakhs as proof of funds. At present I will only be travelling if Visa is issued and I have mentioned in my letter that my wife and Son will accompany me later. So my question is do I need to show full Rs. 6 lakhs asProof of funds or is it ok with Rs. 4-5 lakhs?
Also can I take a printout of the bank email statements with attestation from the bank (without notarisation from notary) for submitting as proof of funds documents?
Thanks in advance
Rajesh
Show the full amount as they will issue visa for all family members if you have applied for all.
regarding bank e-mail statements, I am not sure.
