Hi,
I am planning to visit India in 2 weeks through etihadairways . I am PR with Indian Passport . I am transiting in Abu Dhubai for 1 Hour . Do i need transit Visa?
Thanks in Advance.
1. Your travel agent should have already advised you about this, if it was needed, unless you bought it on the internet. In that case, the Airline customer service should have been your choice to seek the answer.
2. I am not an authority on this, but from experience -
a: Most middleeast visas are stamped on arrival based on your arrival and purpose of visit.
b: a 1 hour transit is generally within the airport, you wont even go out of the arrival lounge, there is obviously no need for a VISA.
c: For a long distance travel, 1 hour transit time is a VERY small window with very high probability of missing the connection. Even if you make the connection, be prepared for non-arrival of your luggage.
My Dad recently travelled Etihad and his stopover at Abu Dhabi was 3.5 hrs where he was supposed to change flights. I think you should look to have around that much time - 2 hr atleast.
BTW, when my Dad returned recently his flight from Toronto was 1 hr late already, arrived 1.5 hr late in Abu Dhabi (remember it is via Brussels) and arrived 3 hr late in Mumbai...
In most cases, when you return from India via Abu Dhabi, you might have a stopover (night stay) at Abu Dhabi arranged by the Airline. In such a scenario, based on your iterinary, a transit visa will be stamped on your passport on arrival valid for 24hrs only.
Hope this helps. All the best.
Hiren
Thanks Hiren.
