Hi,
Has anyone needed a Direct airside transit visa either on their way to canada or returning to India on British Airways flight from India transiting through Heathrow airport in London?
India is listed as one of the countries requiring this transit visa.
Have been hearing conflicting reports though per this website, it seems Indian nationals having valid Canadian visitor visas coming to Canada or returning on valid visa within 6 months of coming to Canada are exempted.

Has anyone booked a BA flight from India to Canada or vice versa and having to deal with transit visas ?
Thanks
For how long will you be on transit ? As per my understanding from your http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf20transit , DATV and other visas are required if the transit time is overnight and/or longer than 24hours.
I have been through Heathrow several times in the past enroute to other European/ Nordic nations and was never stopped or advised to obtain a Visa. And all the while travelling on my Indian PP.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
We had a Canadian visit visa. We stayed in Canada for more than 6 months. While returning to India via London on a BA flight, we were informed at Toronto airport that we need a DATV visa to travel via BA flight. We were not allowed to board the BA plane in Toronto, unless we get that visa. It seems it is not required if we travel back to India within 6 months. But after 6 months it is required.
So we applied online to British embassy in Ottawa. Paid online, appreared for an interview , submitted passports to them, along with canadian visa papers. We got the visa, passport by return post in 1 week. Rebooked the tickets via BA and left for India.
Hope this helps .....
Regards....
