Boulangerie Au Pain Doré : has nice cakes ...bit pricier(have never ordered b'day cakes there..their regular cakes are quite good.

You can get various themed(disney, bob the builder , elmo etc) cakes from Tim hortons and Loblaws(Loblaws is quite good for the price).

If you book a party place(private biz like laserdome, ymca etc)...they usually throw in the cake.

Pain Doré is good. Bought once from there.

But the best one i found in Montreal was ducdelorraine : http://www.ducdelorraine.com
I regularly bought birthday cakes from them and they tasted awesome.

Yeah jake3d is right.
They wont top it up with Dora/Barney/Teletubbies, etc themes and characters... ( Tim Hortons does that )

And if ur having a big party, tho you can pre-order in advance for a bigger size, it will cost much more...

Its good for grown up kids or adults tho... .. Smaller & special occassions

U will like their O'Saint-honor cake (or something like that...Never remembered this name).... Tho u have to go early, Its sold out by evening...

After moving to Toronto, i have taken a liking to : http://www.e-cakes.ca. Their 2 layered Strawberry Shortcake was nice

I think you will find similar sorts at ducdeloraine; albeit, not with as many variations...
