I think he rightly deserves this, but is there any political motive behind this?

Purely Political .... Advani wants to kill two birds with one speech ...... by making this statement he has announced the retirement of Vajpayee and at the same time given some fodder to BJP to attack UPA for not respecting a national figure. Fully Filmi .....
If the issue is not political, then I see no objection in conferring BR to Vajpai. He was a true statesman, and I don't think other than 'Congress' any other Indian hates him. The whole country respects Mr. Vajpai, so my question is, why not?

Why not? He is respected by all parties including moderate muslims. He was the one who initiated the linking of the cities by highways. Some of the hwys we have was the brainchild of him. When he was the foreign minister, he had roped in the Isralies for support to ward off Pak.
