The government should keep a close watch on places of worship especially in Southern Ontario that became a hot bed of extremist views where people other than their own religion are branded as 'infidels'.
We don't need these types of parasites in our liberal society. They use the benefits of religious freedom to trample on the rights/freedom of others.
WE SHOULD NOT BECOME A SOCEITY WHERE LAWS FAVOUR THE RIGHTS OF CRIMINALS/TERRORISTS MORE THAN THE RIGHTS OF PEACE LOVING CITIZENS.
I don't buy into argument that they are forced to do these terrorist activities because they are being discriminated etc.
If these young people had problems with some of the political decisions Canadian Govt. makes they have every right to go for a peaceful protest. But these people espouse voilence because of their extermist religious beliefs.
Mahatma Ghandhi did it(non-voilent protest) in India. Martin Luther King Jr II did it in USA. Nelson mandela did it in South Africa. The Tibetian buddhists have been doing it for several decades.
the govt. should kick all these extermist Jihadi people out of Canada.

Please, theres always an excuse! This extremist ideology is not dependent on recent history. This ideology is inspired from wrongs going back 100's of years to the crusades and before.
Its also based on the superiority of a single way of life and subjugating all others to that way. They misinterpret religion to validate their claims.
Every religion has nutjobs like these. Unfortunately these nutjobs have govts that prop them up. These govts are in turn propped up by selfish/short-sighted interests within western powers

Lets not try to rationalise this away for its like trying to rationalise white(or even the early church) supremacist ideology. Lets reserve the same contempt for all.

I was in no way condoning the "casue" or rationalising their actions.
My comments were based totally on the goings on in global politics, and were about how people/governments increase the probability of things happening or not happening by their actions.
This seems like a good example.......
"The fact that some innocents died was regrettable but militarily acceptable — a cost of war.
Given that coalition troops are waging a counter-insurgency campaign against forces that are mixed throughout, and, at some level, supported by the civilian population, these deaths were also inevitable.
The problem, however, is that what is militarily acceptable in Afghanistan is not politically acceptable there. The Azizi bombing is a devastating setback to the government of President Hamid Karzai and nations, including Canada, that claim to be helping him.
Karzai understands this. That's why he has been consistently critical of the way in which U.S. and other foreign troops operate in his country."

Part of the problem are the places of worship who subtly or openly incite extremism.
This is what Aly Hindy, an Imam at a Tor mosque said:
"But the problem is these days when a Muslim commits fraud, it becomes terrorism. When he commits stealing it becomes terrorism."
These so called religious leaders should be the ones that should be in the fore-front to protect their country - AND THAT WOULD BE CANADA, rather than providing excuses in support of the charged 17.

Being a staunch opponent of American world policies and current administration, I cannot but help compare these recent events with those that are now quite common in the US of A.
Ever since the republicans came into power in the states, the "American People" have had to learn to live their lives according to the "Threat Level of the day". Life has become a never ending kaleidoscope of colors (Orange, Yellow and more). The govt. propaganda machine is hard at work towards educating Americans that they are always at danger from "the foreign types".
Is the same thing now happening in Canada?
Ever since Harper came into power, there have been wide spread concerns regarding anti immigrant and anti immigration policies being subtly brought into effect. While Harper has reduced the ROLF (read Right of Landing Fee, not the IRC Lingo version ) by half, immigrant leaders are concerned that it may be similar to the "Carrot and Stick" tactics employed by George "Dumbya" Bush (Proposing a "Guest Worker" program while at the same time allowing BCIS to introduce Retrogession in Visa numbers which makes the Green Card dream just that - a dream).
Is this recent raid a credit to CSIS's watchfullness or just the beginning of a republican style campaign to induce fear and mass hysteria in the Canadian public to facilitate Right Wing agendas?
It's too early to tell.
But I'll keep my fingers crossed.
