This is what Aly Hindy, an Imam at a Tor mosque said:

These so called religious leaders should be the ones that should be in the fore-front to protect their country - AND THAT WOULD BE CANADA, rather than providing excuses in support of the charged 17.

I couldn't agree more. I would like to think that any religious leader who does not vehemently oppose terrorism and instead tries to find excuses for it should not be allowed to preach to an audience. Its insane to think that freedom speech would allow a religious leader to praise bin-laden or 9/11, and people who do that are probably more dangerous than terrorists, because they're creating a whole bunch of them. If our "liberal values" allow this, then we're basically encouraging apathy and/or cowardice.

The whole notion that these idiots here are trying to fight some cause for a foreign land is preposterous. You can register your protest, but use the law of the land to do so. And if you can't do this, go live in the land you're fighting for, just get the hell out of Canada!

I do however believe in reading some of these reports with a grain of salt. I'm sure tabloids like Toronto Star are having a field day with this story, I would think twice before believing all their reports.

There I agree.

Judging by what the reports are saying though, these guys have been under observation for a couple of years now. That would've started under the liberal govt. So I wouldn't call this just a Tory thing.

Anyways, time will tell.

Hey BL...

There is an old adage in Hindi....

"Aa Bail Mujhe Maar"

We are citizens of a country that allows Terrorists to go on national television and shower oodles of praises on Usama-Bin-Laden...and instead of ostracizing them from the society, they are gladly welcomed back into the mainstream....

Now, about those 72 virgins .....:D

The bottom line is Canada should get tough on terrorists and send the message to anybody trying to destabilize the liberal and diverse Canadian society.

If anybody notices suspicious activity , call the National Security Hotline or alert the police . We all have to be vigilant going forward.

Govts/kings always try to maximise their countries interests(viewed from the prism of their own self-interests/policies). This is true for all countries. These groups are the same, their play is about domination not about right and wrong(which they will milk anyway, like everyone else). The right/wrongs are used to motivate the rank and file.

Remember the US embassy bombings in 1998? Granted it was American embassies but who bore the brunt of those bombings? Africans. Only 12 out of 220 dead were Americans. 4000 approx wounded. What did those Africans do to deserve that?

Sitting out of it just delays the inevitable coming to you. It will come to you finally. Rather than worrying about right and wrong(which is quite foolish since there are enough rights and wrongs to go all around back through the ages)...we may have to look to see where our interests currently lie...is it in preserving democratic systems?

Appeasement never works...it only makes the appeased stronger, until they are strong enough to come for you. Remember Hitler?

BL put it well " If our "liberal values" allow this, then we're basically encouraging apathy and/or cowardice."

Thats exactly what my point is... where do Canada's interests lie ?
and how much of the forced "interference" is about "preserving democratic systems", if any at all...
Isnt it more about appeasement ? Appeasement of our "allies" ???
with the kind of multi-cultural society that Canada has, it certainlyis a tough job to weed out all the "nuances". Given such circumstances, a little "preemptive caution" could probably go a long way in preserving the vaules that Canada promises its people.....

But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.

Whether we like it or not Canada, US and mexico as part of North America share a common destiny.

70% of out exports go to USA. 1 out of every 4 jobs is directly related to our trade with US and 2 out of 4 are related indirectly to our trade with US.

We have an overall trade surplus with rest of the world. But guess what? If we remove the Canada-US trade, we are actually running a couple of billion dollars trade deficit every year with rest of the world. It is our trade surplus with the most prosperous nation on the earth - US that has brought us a better living standards. We simply don't have the economy of scale (think about this we just have a population 32 million spread over an area about 4 times bigger than India) A lot of products we buy are cheap thanks to the economy of scale offered by 300 million consumers south of our border.

It is in the best interests of our nation to have an integrated immigration system with that of USA. That way, only people cleared by security checks from these three(US, Canada and Mexico) countries would be able to legally set foot in North America.

There are lots of jihadi idiots who come to Canada and probably owe their job to our trade with US but still hate US. Their eyes are blinded by religious extremisim and they are brainwashed in those extremist religious schools.

Also Canada should ban preaching of any form of religious hatred like the UK did a few years back.
