Hi friends,

Need your help. I wanted to know whether its really tough to study masters at a university in canada. take univ of ottawa into consideration.
how are the exams like? open book or do we need to mug up.

please advise..

I would appreciate if any student who is also a canadian desi and studying in U of O could reply..

I don't know the specifics but I can tell you that its no piece of cake. Generally speaking, studying for masters in comp. science here is much tougher than studying for a bachelors.

And U or O is a fairly good university, so it won't be easy. Having said that, if you've done well in your bachelors program in India, you're probably well equipped to handle the course.

Hello there u dont have to worry about education, they will make u study and then its up to u to grasp it. The system works like this, If it is 100 marks for a sub it is divided in to 30+30+40, u will have 2 mid term and 1 final (this may also cover the practicals and so on, spillting the marks is the tutors wish) every week u will have assignments and will be intense, not like India where u have to mug the whole book and vomit in the exam paper. The system is different and it is adaptable. If u have done ur basics I dont see y there should be any difficulty for u to do ur masters here. Dont worry u will have fun.

I am from mumbai doing my bachelors in Comp. Science here in canada...

Did u already get admits from any university here ?
Are you doing MS with thesis or coursework ?
If u already got admission , you are lucky because getting admission for masters is competitive as there are limited number of seats....

U of ottawa is pretty good university and it offers a joint MS program with Carleton university ....
Location is pretty good because of the large number of IT companies in ottawa region.....

Studies are here pretty challenging and one is required to study regularly unlike india.....

Hi even I am from Mumbai. Yes i got my admit in U of Ottawa. I am doing it with thesis.. My classes are to start from 5th Jan. And the reason why I am scared becoz i dont know how things work out.
I would appreciate if it would be possible for us to meet in ottawa.
