I would like to know if anybody has stayed as a paying guest with ubpayingguest.com and how is the service?
I will be moving on pr visa soon

Hi,

It is a good place to be upon your arrival in Toronto. They provide veg food , high speed internet access (very helpful for job search) , and well furnished rooms. There are always someone to guide you through the initial phases of getting in to the stream in Canada.

Many people come there , get a job and then they move out just because they have family to bring over from India, or they want to be close to their job.

I lived there for almost 3 months, and I can can say that it is a good place, the owner Uttam is a very honest person as well.

The majority inmates are Gujarati, and they are very easy to get along. I am not a Gujarati and I enjoyed my stay there.

Before shifting to this Chinese managed barryguesthouse @ Don Mills and Finch I had called them . I did not approve of their prices and that despite the rates they were charging they were not providing private rooms which I feel is a necessity for newcomers. Also why stay @ Mississauga when you have equivalent / better accomodation at Downtown where the transport is much better.

having said that I dont have first hand experience with ubpayingguest. Why dont you compare what they are providing with what others are providing .Check the thread 'initial Place for Newcomers'.

I find the rate $450 per month is attractive. I am staying in a one bedroom apartment near Don Mills and shared rate is $490. I find the weekly rate is comparable to the one I paid at $180 at kennedy -sheppard junction.

Looks fine to me.

talking about this impression posted about ubpaying guest by easydesi below..

interesting to see how much of a saint it takes to feel and say so many good things about the guest house. I am trained to look and scrutinize processes.

you should either be uttam swejal himself or a saint to feel so.

i have met gujarati's asking me if it was food that is being served there.

how tolerant could you be being a non-gujarati and praise for the food..

keep it up.. this world needs good people like you with a positive mind..

i have an anology here to give.. a bit crude but the idea is to help people from bein ripped off..

Gandhiji and Uttam swejal share a common charecteristic..

they are both gujarati..

if easy desi feels that uttam swejal is an honest man then Gandhiji is a big cheater..

i will say that the price is too high for what you get..

300 CAD a month is a good price.. for the accomodation and the food..

you are paying 150 CAD more for what you get..

this is the equation you get to live..

12 bodies sharing one bath with shower and a half toilet..

so your turn now..

Last week one of our friend’s family arrived from India. And here are what we have experienced at this place.
1. When we have asked what kind of accommodation they provide, they have told that you can see on website all the room.

Experience : However, we have found it was complete lie. The place and rooms are given for accommodation is not same what they show on the web site. Its very dirty with lots of cockroaches, wall are dirty. Very old PC which takes forever to boot.. and ofcourse, 12 ppl to share one bathroom. Nothing has mentioned in the website.

So imagine person is coming from overseas, can’t check the place before renting. They totally relay on website pictures. This is not honesty. On top of that, they ask advance payment with reservation.

2. About food : breakfast offered is rice and some left over sabji…..can’t call as breakfast.

3. They say when you call them, they have hired one person for cooking…and the funny is Uttam himself is cooking in the kitchen…


Our experience is non-professional and lie service. At least be honest in this money we can provide only this…. They are making fool….
