Toyota Camry OR Toyota Corolla??

Hi

I am shopping around for a used car and have decided on buying a used Toyota, but am yet to decide between Corolla and Camry.
The year range that I am looking for is between 1997 - 2000.

I was browsing through Autotrader.ca, and found that many of the Camry’s have cheaper price tags compared to that of a Corolla (of same year/mileage range).

Is there some kind of problem(s)/recall(s) with Camry’s of 1997-2000, which kind of reflects in the price, I mean what is the real story here?

Is it expensive to maintain, being a V6?

From the perspective of cheap to maintain/problem free car, which one is better, Camry or Corolla?

Also, how are the private power-tran warranties that are available in the market? Do they honour the warranties if you have any problem, or is it a scam?

Feedback would be appreciated.

hey there
A 4 Cylinder car is always economical , corrolla is always better and cheaper to maintain than a camry as its a 6 cylinder car and fuel consumption is more ...

First of all, it depends on what is the family size? corrolla is good for a young couple with either none or one or two small children.

What is it used for - long drives or not? For a long drive, definitely a Camry is much smoother and therefore more confortable and less tiring. Corrolla is good for city drives.

Camry comes in two sizes - 4 cylinder and 6 ( I own one of each- both 97 models. 4 cylinder is good enough, till you drive a 6 cylinder when you really feel the power. One might say in city drive you do not need the power - but I think it is the other way round. In city drive you need more power than highway since many times you need that power just to overtake some other car, or cross over before red on a traffic junction.

One of the best models produced by Camry is 96-98 - I am told by mechanics and CAA. What is the price you are finding on Autotrader? and why do you say it is cheaper than others? What are you comparing it with??

Private Power train warranties are a scam. I bought one and the phone went to a household and the guys never acknowledged having received confirmation of me buying it through one of the dealers!!!
