When you say "Now we have been asked to send out passports", does this mean only your husbands only or both your pp's. I'm assuming you got your visa stamped in Jan 2006, and if so you should have entered the country by Feb 2006 (medicals done in Feb 2005).
Interesting... if infact they will actually stamp your pp after medical expiry.

If they have asked for passports for both of you and you have submitted the same, wait till you get back your passports. Visa expiry date will determine what you can do. If you have already got your passport stamped, expiry date would be right there for you to see.
If they now wake up and ask for your medical examination again, it should mean a delay of about three months or so.
In any case cheer up, do not let them determine your happiness!
