I plan to land soon in coming weeks and while I have made all the arrangements of accomodation for the initial few weeks in Milton, how good it will turn out to be I will get to know only after arriving and staying there.
Can those who have experienced this phase already make any suggestions on to stay in the initial few weeks and where NOT to stay.
There are quite a few post landing accomodation services being offerred by some agencies sunnynewcomer and many others ....how good they are can anyone suggest from experience?

Hi,
As far our experience, in my opinion, when your new, try to be as close to the main city as possible. There are lot of reasons for that like when you come new, you don't have car, you don't have any job, you don't know many people around you and most importantly it depends on the time of your landing also.
Milton is bit far away place from Toronto but if you have some kinda 'jugaad' and you are saving money, then thats perfect. Otherwise try to be near downtown Toronto or Mississauga. Toronto is the best because you will learn so many new things while in Toronto whereas if you live in Mississauga or Brampton, where most of desis live, you will not get good exposure. There is another misconception that Toronto is expensive. It is not!! Rather you will have 24 hr transportation facility, lot of public liberaries etc..etc.. I am telling you that you will not regret. In Toronto, you can get single accomodation in 350-500 which is not bad.
Oh Happyji , O thanks for the advice yar!
I also had the misconception that Toronto is really expensive and I'd prefer to sty in Toronto any day ( woh milton wala guest house bhi $500 le raha hai yaar!! ...mujh gareeb desi ko choona laga raha hai )
I will take $500 single accomodation in Toronto hands down, but where to find them...or probably i m not looking into the right places to find the right accomodation . Can you or anyone who reads this suggest where to look for single accomodation in Toronto.

Definitely transit system in Mississauga is better than Brampton. In Toronto, you have subway trains which are quite fast.
I came to Brampton because I had a friend in Brampton though in my personal opinion it is not a good choice for newcomers who have no cars.

Malton is just besides the Airport ( 6-7 min Drive) This community served by all three transit services ( Mississauga, Toronto and Brampton). HRDC Center, Community Center , other resource centers and post office are within walking distance. Majority here is of Desis so desi food stuff is available easily. Living as a paying guest would not cost much if you compare with Toronto Downtown.
Thanks and regards.

Yes, Malton could be another choice and thats a good choice too because of its location. It is very convenient place and lot of Desi "Bhapa ji" stuff. Mandir, Gurudwara is very near by. For a new comer, that is a good option. If you want to stay in 'India away from India' and that too in 'Distt. Jalandhar, State of Punjab', stick to Malton forever; if you want to experience PHOREN COUNTRY, move towards Toronto downtown after few months.
BTW, when are you landing here?
