We have made reservations to stay at sunnynewcomer.com. Earlier we had looked around for hotels / motels but strangely none of them responded to our reservation request(was looking at CAD $70 - $100).
Sunnynewcomer(at $35) was the quickest.
Does anyone have any feedback about their accomodation and the location? We will not be having any car and need to get SIN / Health card done. Am hoping that the $35 per night does not translate into bad service

Do not know much about it. However, visited their website and it looks that the rooms & prices are quite o.k. The place is centrally located and is well connected by T.T.C (Bus service). You certainly can stay there a week or more and then you would be able to decide on your own and can look for a place for rent at a price which is affordable and is in your range. A basement apartment can be in the range of $700-$900 while a 2 bedroom apartment can be rented for $1000-$1300 depending on location.

Good luck and welcome to Canada.

If you leave your details of landing at canada with number of family members, I may be in a position to help you in geting a cheaper place with all facilities with any Indian family as paying guest accomodation or basement apartment maybe arranged.

We are in the process of working on "Volunteer" services for accomodation also. I think that would be useful to many new comers.
