Greetings,

I'm planning a stop in Kingston area on way to Ottawa.

My questions -

1. Is the 1,000 island cruise worth it?

2. Is there anything else worth seeing in the Kingston/Gananoque area other than the cruise?

3. finally, does anyone have any recommendations for a cruise liner company for the cruise?
There seem to be scores of companies operating cruises and I don't know how to choose.

I'm looking for a short cruise (i.e. 1 - 2 hrs.) and not the speciality dinner cruise or anything like that.

Thanks.

hey pratickm
go with 2 hrs cruise from gananoque. don't worry about the cruise line, they all are same and have almost same route. the only difference between 2 hr cruise n 3 hr cruise is they will stop at castle.
you can also go to casino there. then take the 1000 island pkws to rockport to enjoy nature' beauty. then from rockport you can continue on 401 to ottawa.

Those 1-2hr cruises are fairly hyped up. For me, it was a let down. Again, these so-so places are marketed well (brochures, embellished images) and we just fall for it.

I enjoyed the tiny downtown better. A pub that served a fine selection of Belgian beers saved my day.

There's a fort there that gives you a fantastic view of the city and its surrounding landscape. Photographer's paradise I must say.
