I work on a U.S. cruise liner off Florida coast. I'd like to apply for Canadian immigration and currently hold a U.S. C1D visa from India. Can I file Canadian immigration paperwork in Canadian Visa center in U.S (Buffalo, NY)? Can I provide the Cruise liners POBox address as proof of residency as I do not have a land address in U.S.? Alternately, I have a cousin living in Michigan, U.S., who is willing to support me to file for Canadian Immigration.
Please help.
you can only file from USA if at the time you entered USA, you had a one year valid permit/visa which was legally obtained.

Why are you calling stupidest country. If you dont like this country then its your choice. Why did you leave your own home country if you dont want to be in canada.

Hi. - This one relates to the US visit
1) Going to the USofA is relatively easy. All you need is a B1 / B2 visitor visa. (for Canadian residents holding Indian passports). Getting one (USD100) is not that formiddable if you can prove that you intend to go there as a visitor only. (show the US folks that you are employed here, have a residence here etc). If you hold a Canadian passport, you will need a TN visa to work there. (no visa required for visiting).
2) Be prepared for extensive interrogation at the US immigration. I had a 1 hour 'questioning' (few months ago)even though I had all the paperwork, and was visiting US for a brief period. I have visited the US several times before and never had such an experience before, but it appears that they are all the more nervous now (thanks to 9/11).
One more thing...Never, ever lie about anything to the officials there. If you do, you will be sabotaging your eligibility to visit the US forever.
3) If driving down, there are a number of issues relating to insurance, car - registration etc, if you do not intend to come back. If you are traveling by Bus, Greyhound insists on purchase of a round-trip ticket.
(Greyhound terminal at Bay and Dundas, Toronto.)
4) For a Toronto resident, Niagara is the closest (approx 2 hours) land crossing.
5) Remember, you are better off getting a job here than in the US. They have a cap on the visa's, and companies there will not spend a whole lot on H1-B unless they have to!.
Hope this helps!
