Well folks- the latest Forbes list of the 100 most powerful women has been published.
On a cursory glance I could spot the foll of Indian origin:
No 5. Indra Nooyi of Pepsico
No.6. Sonia Gandhi
No. 97 Vidya Chabbria of Jumbo electonics, Dubai
Can you spot any more ? Please post.
Personally I think the Forbes list is no bible, but it's a guideline.
Can you folks think of any ladies of Indian origin who you think should be on the list?
Compile a few names. I will send it in to Forbes to investigate for next year.
I do remember a bunch of us sent in names for their billionaire's list and they did do their research and added several from India in the last 2 years.
All they need is a few names and they will pick it up from there.
I do remember them sending me a letter of effusive thanks for DLF's boss and Baba Kalyani. From there there did more legwork on their own and came up with several other people .
How about that lady who is a top gun in ICICI bank. Anyone know her name?

Oh! By the way, I don't approve 'Sonia Gandhi' as a Powerful woman. She just happen to run the family dynasty and a party where the other senior leaders are sidelined. Trust me, this is nothing to do with my political inclinations. She has done nothing magnificent so far, but is living a dynasty of 'Nehru/Gandhi'.
The other two, Indra Nooyi and Vidya Chhabaria are self-made professionals, who created a niche for themselves. It's only through their hard work that they are being recognized as a Powerful women. They deserve my utmost respect, but alas! not Sonia Gandhi (NEVER!!!).

And Mother Teresa is always said to be Indian or of Indian origin in many press pieces. Just the way things are written.

Another person called me to suggest Manishi Sagar of Kinderville in Montreal, who has also won several awards.
Well the richest indian women(in india) can surely be on this list ..... Kiran Majumdar Shaw .....She is the CMD for Biocon .....
