Any Desis into real estate construction business? I was wondering what it would cost approximately to construct a free-standing retail facility. I am thinking of building a resturant about 10 - 15k sq ft size. This is just for the shell and paving the rest of the approx 1.5 acres. No leasehold improvements. And this is in the GTA.

I work for a design firm designing such things. The actual construction cost is always kept confidential but I have had access to look into it.
Assuming that you are going for a steel column structure with block fill in you will look into 750K to 1 Million. The cost will go bigger if you want expensive finishes. If you want a tradition wooden structure with stone / brick veneer you may be looking at 1250K upwards.

what I was thinking. Conservatively that would be around $ 90 - 100 psf. for the building.
