I bought a brand new house in Brampton in end of Dec 2006 from builder for 2,95,000. It's a semi-detach. Only 1760 SQ. Yesterday I received my first property tax bill for year 2007. They assessed value as 3,53,000. They charged me $ 4219.83 as proptery tax @ interest rate of 1.195419 %. of the assessed value.

Is anyone is living in brampton in almost same kind of house. How much property tax you are paying?.

Is there any way I can challange their assessed value.

Any ideas are welcome.

Talk to your neighbours and see what their properties are assessed at. My understanding is that the assessed value is normally lower than the actual market value
