Ive been using godaddy.com for about 8 yrs now. I have multiple domains registered under them. Always found them reliable. I've seen cheaper ones but then 8-9$/year per .com domain with godaddy is not a big deal and I plan to take my future business to them too.

Their hosting is cheap too...though they oversell...as do most others and is not recommended for other than basic static sites.

I have a question...

If I've already registered for a domain name in the past...can I change the name of that domain later on down the line?

Yes, you can change. No Technical problem in that.

If I need to change the domain name then I'll just buy new one, and run both names resolving to same address. You can auto-redirect to New Name if someone come knocking to Old Name.

Hi Pink Panther,
Yes and no. You cannot change the domain name itself. You will have to buy the new name. As maharaj says you will have to redirect/forward the old domain name to the new one.

To put it simply. A domainname is the name you have registered for your domain. Now you would host that domain on a server ie...all your website files would be on the hosting server.
Now any number(depending on your registrar) of domain names can be forwarded/redirected to that domain (which is now on a hosting server).
So if your new name is pinkpanther.com you could forward oldpanther.com and oldpink.com to the new name and the new site would always be the one that the visitor sees.

You would have to pay a yearly fee to keep all the domains active. SOme of my clients find it a good idea to even buy variations of their domain name to point them to the same domain
e.g: Brands.com
Variations > Brandz.com, Brands.ca, Brandz.ca etc.

I have my domain name with 1&1 and find them the cheapest and best so far.
They also have very good hosting plans as well and right now they are offering .info domain for only 99 cents for one year.
