Hi to all,
My daughter started her JK this september. she is a very normal child very active. But the teacher has recommended a hearing test to be done which according to me is a surprise coz she hears perfectly well at home.
we have an appointment at the Humber River Hospital for this month. I am very scared and have no idea as to what they do?
Has any1 had their kids hearing test done and if so pls share your experience.
Thanks
It's a relatively simple test, where they play music at different volume levels from different directions and note whether the child is responding correctly or not.
Usually they use cartoon/Disney characters to catch the kid's attention.
One parent is usually allowed in.
Sometimes the doctor will look inside the ears for any wax, mucus, etc. that may be interfering with hearing.

Nothing to be scared of. Things that we take for granted in India are taken a bit more seriusly here. So if the child is not paying attention in class the teachers usually get there ears examined to make sure it is not a physical problem before they proceed further in their investigation of the the reason for the childs inattention.
