Hello Cd,
My G test appointment is next week. I drive everyday on highway but still driving test is different than normal. What are the things should I take care of it? what will they ask me to do in that test?
thank you very much.

1. Do not panic. If you miss some instructions (eg like a turn) don't try and rectify at the last minute and do some dangerous driving. (This happened to me, and the examiner said he was glad that I did not take a last minute sharp turn. He asked me to continue and take a left turn instead at the next lights)

2. Keep an eye on the speedometer when entering the highway. Speed upto almost 90km/hr and merge

3. Memorize up & down hill parkings

4. Don't forget to pull the hand brake when parking

5. Remember to use the flashers for emergency parking

6. Remember to check blind spots and the mirror regularly.

Good Luck... I'm sure you'll do fine.

I would like to add one more tip here.

Since you have been driving on highway for long, you might have developed the habit of driving in the left lane. Please make sure to drive only in the right lane because as a G2 license holder the examiner expects you to drive in right lane only. Even when he asks you to take a left turn, change the lanes safely, take a safe left turn and then signal and change lanes to come to the right lane.

It happened to me when I was taking my test for G license after driving with G2 license for a couple of years on highway. I did not drive in right lane and also overtook a truck on highway 401 to come in the 2nd lane. The result; you guessed it right, I failed the test.

Good Luck.

Hi Everyone,

I need to go for my G test soon. I am driving with my G2 license for a long time now. The only problem is I dont drive on highways. I drive to work everyday, since I live close by I drive on the city streets.
If anyone could please give me tips/suggestions on highway driving, I will be very thankful. Basically, I am very nervous of going on the Highways. I have gone a few times but I am still not confident.

Thanks,
Seema.
