Life? Or Mortgage? or both?

I prefer term life. So far as your life is insured over your mortgage term, you have something as backup. Once your mortgage term is completed (house paid off), you already have your house equity as your backup. - all my thoughts. This is all outside your RRSP and non-RRSP savings.

In my views, the rates for mortgage-life insurance (the one that your mortgage bank might offer) are a bit higher. I prefer keeping mortgage and life insurance with two different companies. Infact, I also prefer that both the institutes be on opposite sides of the streets ok, joke.

Try RBC term life insurance, they have a calculator on their website. (I think 30yr, non-smoke is approx $25, but don't trust my memory.)

Thanks Sville, can you recommend some brokers or companies for Term insurance.
