Hi,
Recently, I have been required to transfer money to India, frequently.
So far I have used ICICI Canada for that. However, I am fed up with their patheteic service. Firstly, their exchange rate (CAD to INR) is about a dollar plus less than one that can be seen on Google. In addition they charge $7-10 for each transfer.
Moreover, a typical tranfer takes 15-20 days - where direct electronic tranfer is not possible.
What options do you use to transfer money to India?
Thanks,
MG.
There are several Desi transfer services as well but I am not sure about the their services and exchange rate.
I prefer transferring through Money Gram. Though Western Union services are good too but I have always noticed their exchange rate a little less and fees a little more than Money Gram.
Try Money Gram

I have been using ICICI Money 2 India (not ICICI Bank Canada) for the past 7-8 years and am pretty satisfied with their service. Earlier, I used to use the cheque deposit option, now I am transferring money directly online through direct debit of my chequing account. The transfer takes place within 3-4 working days and I have found the conversion rates to be fair. There are no remittance fees if you deposit to your ICICI NRO a/c in India.
