Kaminey a movie where Vishal Bhardwaj takes the basic Bollywood premise of "Deewar" and twin brothers, tosses out the Bollywood stereotypes and morality standards, and gives it a 21st century feel.
This is not a typical Yash Chopra/Karan Johar movie. Do not expect any "feel good" moments, no foreign locales, no designer clothes, no mushy romance, no English dialogues, no college kids. The characters speak a very normal Hindi. Bengali and Maharashtrian characters speak their own language.
The character of Charlie is perhaps the 21st century reincarnation of Vijay. But the character I liked the most was one played by Priyanka Chopra - a strong confident woman, not that stereotypical oppressed "bhartiya naari"
Excellent direction, crisp photography and editing and excellent lyrics by Gulzar.
This is not a movie to be watched with your family. But if you are looking for something that defys the norm, go watch it.

Yeah Meghal,
A classic movie. My takes were,
Great background score (at the climax especially)
Amol Gupte (Bhope) and the guy who playes "Mikhail"
"Sa" ko "Fa"
Music ("Kaminey" sung by VB)
Overall a great movie.
By the way, some good numbers have come again,
Watch out for "Wake up sid (Especially Iktaara)", "What's your rashee" and "Agey Se right (one song called Mahiya".
Reaching Bhuj on 23rd Sept. Can't wait to go Mandvi and Binharif. he he
Regards,
Vj.
