With only 6 people in the entire theatre when I was watching this movie, wonder how many CDs have watched this movie. It is worth watching once. I watched that movie based on positive review given on rediff.

Rediff has given 3.5 stars to this movie, but I think 3 is good enough. The direction and acting are good, but it is the story that is a handicap. Infatuation of a common Indian with Bollywood has been time to time portrayed in movie starting from Kaagaz Ke Phool, Guddi, Abhimaan, Chala Murari Hero Banne, Sitara, Bollywood Calling, Main Madhuri Dixit... , Page 3 and now Luck by Chance.

The movie has all the stereotypes - struggling actors/actresses, casting couch, superstitious producers, actors turned directors, gay reporters, magazine editors, dominating mothers of heroines, the selfishness-shallowness of Bollywood. So you know the how the story will flow and how it will end.

However, it is the first time director Zoya Akhtar (daughter of Jaaved Akhtar) that makes this movie watchable. The movie is not masterpiece, but there are moments-flashes of brilliance. Also, the director avoids a mushy ending, but gives a more practical-realistic solution.

The songs are few and evenly paced and are melodious. One of the song featuring Hritik is a spoof on Bollywood songs, but is quite fun to watch due to good choreography and costumes. Acting by lead pair - Farhan Akhtar and Konkona Sen Sharma is good. But it is sad to see Juhi Chawla and Dimple Kapadia relegated to secondary roles. Rishi Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor do a much better job as character artists than what they have done as a leading character.

BTW, this is not a "family movie" due to some of the scenes. The body language/manerisms/clothes of leading charactesr are heavily westernised. And premarital sex is no longer a taboo in Indian movies - so adieu songs like "Roop Tera Mastana... Bhool Koi Hum Se Na Ho Jaaye".
