Contact VPI and take an appointment with case manager who will guide you as to whether you should take some course or study further. I am certain if you have worked for 6 months continously then you are eligible to get EI. please talk to the following person with regards to EI and other benefits :

Please take this opportunity of further studies which is available to people who has been laid off. The case manager is the right person to help and guide you.

If you wish, I shall send you VPI address and contact tel no. to take appointment.

VPI,
NORTH ETOBICOKE

Thank you very much for the helpful replies. I have updated my resume and will start posting soon. I have applied for the EI and waiting for their decision.

I will keep you guys update about my job search and responses.

One question, as I have lots of experience in IT field and now want to learn SAP (as many friends recommended me). Is learning SAP qualifies for career change funding? I am learning new skill in IT not changing my career. Please advise.

Thanks again

Being laid off from IT job will not qualify you for Second Career or career change. If you had been laid off from Automobile industry then you can qualify for career change.
You are eligible for Ontario Skills development. It is known as OSD. The max. payout is $28K (incl. everything). The standard in SAP is training for 3 modules and 3 attempts in the certification exam.
SAP is currently hot but please donot tell anyone that as if everyone takes SAP, then the market will come down.
All the best.
