Read how an eminent American professor of Indian origin with OCI was treated upon arrival at Kolkata airport.
I guess this should be an eye opener for all CDs here with OCI (including myself); always carry both visa and OCI card when travelling to India.
It is sad but you have to carry all papers. It is easy to shift blame on to others. OCI card without accompanying U visa on old or new passport does not have any value.

What is 'eye opening' in this? Is it not common sense to carry all required documents when you travel abroad. Especially in these times. Ask the professor what would happen if someone lands in a US airport from international flight without proper documents.
He asks ' Otherwise, what is the difference between an ordinary foreigner and the OCI Card holder? ' Well sir, you have to prove you have a valid OCI.
The professor further writes ' He was totally unimpressed by either my status as a Professor Emeritus of the University of Michigan or my age (70+). ' Did SRK learn this antics from him ???? Or was it the other way around.
The prof also writes that OCI is a piece of junk and one needs a visa to enter India. May he be reminded that OCI itself is a lifetime visa ( and not dual citizenship as he imagines) and again, valid docs are required to enter a country.
It was very liberal of the Indian authorities to let him in the country without proper documents and he has the cheek to complain.
Point no. 4 - what a racist comment.

can anyone please explain comment as mentioned under point #2?
2- The OCI card simply has no value. It is just a piece of expensive junk. You still need a visa every time you travel to India, whether or not you possess an OCI card. The only difference is that for the high price of getting an OCI card, you purportedly get a "life long" visa. A 10-year visa is much cheaper.

I applied for OCI and will be visiting first time after became Canadian Citizen with OCI card.So no VISA will be in my Canadian PP other than OCI?What could be the potential risks?Do I need to apply for VISA as well?

What the person in the article did was he carried only OCI card and new passport without any Indian visa sticker. His OCI U visa sticker was in his old passport, which he did not carry. Immigration at India would like to see both OCI U Visa sticker (on old passport or new passport) and the card, so he got into trouble.
The point he is trying to make is that OCI card should be enough to enter India and Immigration should not check for the visa sticker on passport. Unfortunately, it does not work that way.
He is calling it expensive piece of junk because you still need to carry your old passport where they affixed the OCI U visa sticker.
Even if you get 10 year visa and your passport expires, you will still need to carry your old passport and new passport, otherwise who will allow you stay in India?
One point to understand is that India has never allowed dual citizenship. If you want to get back your Indian citizenship, you have to give up the citizenship of the other country.
