China formally kicked off its mass celebrations of 60 years of communist rule with a 60-gun salute that rung out across Beijing's historic Tiananmen Square earlier today. Hundreds of thousands of participants marched past Tiananmen Square in costume or uniform, with floats and dancers mingling with soldiers and military hardware. Collected here are photographs of the once-in-a-decade National Day parade in Beijing, and of others commemorating the anniversary elsewhere. (39 photos total)

They celebrated in grand style.
Did anyone take those picture - other than chinese news agency?
If not, then most of those pictures maybe Photoshopped.
After the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, I take every news from china with a pinch of salt.
Did you look at the condition of that man trying to adjust the antenna for a clear picture - it does say a lot of his living conditions.
BTW, I dont think they celebrate every year (unlike India, who celebrates twice a year) -so it might as well be GRAND once in 60 years.

Thats what I meant, celebrated 60 years of communism after the revolution.
They have been having demonstrations like these in China and Russia for ever. Where do you think "Chacha Nehru" got the idea for a "Republic Day Parade" from??

Already Genghis khan did that to some extent.
BTW, does it also mean who rules the mass population, if so china being the populous nation this holds true and flat also applies to India to a greater extent I suppose.
