Varturam,
In case of financial emergencies, one could use the food bank / soup kitchen by walk.
Food banks sometimes keeps items like bread, Juice, vegetables as free for all and hence every day you could pick up something.
Before shooting me, please remember that it is part of a general check list. Some may want to use a food bank /soup kitchen, while others may not.
Peace by Murali

Lalitha,
I would recommend Mississauga and near Square one. Your husband can take the GO bus to down town from square -1. Only disadvantage is if there is heavy snow, accident on 401-403 highway, when the bus may not come one time. At that time, your husband has to take a bust to islington stn. and then Subway to downtown.

Mississauga is full of desi's but more north indian's speaking Hindi only. If you donot know Hindi, it will be hard to make a connect with them (personal experience).

If you get a condo, you can meet families in the Gym / swimming pool. besides this area has decent schools. Also many familes run private daycare at around $ 800-$1000 a month (professional one is around $ 1600-1800 a month).

Next choice is mabelle / cardova (Islington) but the desi population is more of a poor one. Plus a lot of middle eastern ones speaking Arabic which would make you depressed. If there is a condo here, you will be able to get contacts in the Gym./Swimming pool. Remember that this area will not have a desi crowd at night time . It is deserted at night. But it is a safe place.

Third choice is to live in apartments along mississauga / Islington which does not have a Gym. The rent will be affordable, but you will have to find contacts outside your apartment.

Hope some one can add further to it.

Peace by Murali

Hindi isn't a problem for me I can speak and understand to some extent but my husband doesn't.
Second or third choice suggested by TK looks good. I should finalise this week!
