If I were still in India - Indian Citizen - then this would have discomfort me. Outsiders should not get a say in choosing Indian Leader. You have left the shore - stay there n choose your own. NRI would not know suffering of Common Man. Its another story that most elected MPs are not doing much but atleast some outsiders have not chosen them.

On the issue of safety and security of Indian overseas workers and students, Singh they were a top priority of his government.

I think this move was overdue
When some left on their own, some were compelled to move in search of a better job. However having seen the outside world I belive a NRI is more grown mentally than a resident Indian, we will therefore hopefully be demanding a better system and accountability.
I only hope there are safeguards to check the abuse, so that some business or vested interest people won't hijack the country one way or the other
