having worked in the USA for last 4 years would help landing a job in Canada or they dont care?.. please share your thoughts and tips.
It definately does.
First of all, your communication skills (hopefully) are already tuned to the local market, which in my opinion hurts a lot of well-qualified people from India. And I'm not only talking about accents, its also about expressions, gestures and vernacular.
Secondly if you're coming from the U.S., you probably are better off financially than someone from India. Maybe you already have a car and can easily afford to buy a cell-phone. You don't have to wait to get a license, you can exchange your U.S. driving license for a Canadian one right away. Your familiarity with the systems will mean you'll be able to find your way around places much faster than someone from India. These help a lot in the job search.
Last but not least, you (should) have a degree of confidence about you which will help you leverage the American experience. Without this, it won't mean much. Its your job to present it as an asset. And don't be discouraged if you still find people who ask you about "Canadian expereince", just have your answers ready.
I might add I came from the U.S. too.
