Hi Bharat,
Are you planning to move and when? If you are not planning to move withing next 6 months to 1 year, then all you will need is your passport, visa any other related document that was sent by Canadian immigration and a local address over here where they will mail the PR card. If you will be staying for couple of days then I would recommend you to apply for SIN card as well. There will not be much of a scruitiny if you let them know that you are just landing now and will move sometime later. Whenever you land the most important paper that you need to keep is the landing document that they will give you. Keep it very carefully because it has sometimes more importance than even PR card.
Let me know if you have any more questions or let me know your number and I can call you.

Hi, SIN is card not needed if you are planning to land and come back and work in USA. The card is for Income tax and since you hold no employment in Canada and don't even reside in there YET, don't inform taxation office by having a SIN and they come after you for income earned in USA or all over the world. SIN card is needed when you reside in Canada and hold employment there. Till the time you fully settle in Canada I'll suggest to avoid getting a SIN card. It has no impact on your PR or its status.

Hope this helps....................Jona

If you check post of jonav, said dont apply SIN card till I get job confirmation. so if I land and got PR card, and will not apply SIN card say for 6-12 months does it impact my PR ??
Thanks
Bharat

No, it has no impact on your PR status. Me and my hubby are also PR holders but live outside Canada (plan to relocate later) and don't have SIN cards. Its the income tax card. You don't need it till you are actually relocated and employed in Canada and want to pay taxes. If you apply for it, Canadian tax authorities can tax you for your world wide income, I don't think you would like to do that.

Hope it helps..................Jona

Landing from USA or anywhere else is the same thing..
If u are planning to go back and work on H1B, make sure u have a address in Canada where ur PR Card can be forwarded.. Give this as ur addresd when u are crossing.

PR Card will be required when u want to reenter.

If u are asked about ur plans u can give them a honest answer .. A lot of people land and return in 1 day to 2months after landing.. I did this in 4hr and had no problems

Apply for SIN ASAP.. Applying for SIN does not automatically force u to file for world taxes.. U need to have strong ties here like own a home or have income..

If possible open a bank account and a secured credit card ASAP to start building ur credit history..

Again Returning back to US immidiately after landing is not a problem..
