I will be landing in Toronto in March and would like to know what are job prospects for us (landing with my wife)

I am a software enginner with 6 years of experience currently working in US. I have done BS and MS from a top university in US (usually among top 3 schools in usnews ranking). In US salary range for a person with my qualifications is US $100,000 - $125,000

My wife recently completed her MBA. She also did her BSc/MBA in USA. She worked for a big-4 accounting firm for a year before starting her MBA. Her salary range in US is $65,000 - $85,000.

Workopolis is a great site.

I would also recommend
http://ca.hotjobs.yahoo.com
http://www.canadait.com
http://www.bestjobsca.com
http://toronto.computerwork.com
http://www.gojobs.gov.on.ca

Ofcourse, networking helps. Spread your resume around, put it up on the web. And of course, you can always start your own business, a growing trend in Canada.

Best of luck!

Thank you smiley and madhu

Thank you smiley and madhu

We decided to go through recruiters instead of posting resumes on the web. I got in touch with the person (recruiter) who placed me at my current position. She had contacts in Canada and got me a phone interview which translated into a job offer. My wife was phone screened by one of the Big-4 firms in Toronto (again through recruiting firm in Toronto). She has an interview scheduled the week we are landing there.

I think it is important to go through recruiters. They have contacts and can get your resume to the right hiring manager. If you directly post/email your resume to prospective employees, recruiters will not have any incentive to represent you.

Dear friend,

Do keep us posted, when u land here, and get a job. I am just curious abt such a situation. As it looks somewhat similar to a person known to me!

Thanks.
