My nephew currently in 11th grade wants to apply for Undergraduate course in Canada, probably get admission into BS Computer Science or Electronic Engg...
I have the following questions:
1. How hard is it to get admission into any of the schools like McMaster, York or Ryerson.
2. I am PR holder currently living/working in Toronto, can I send an affidavit that I can provide for his accomodation and food and other expenses. Will the consulate think that this person might not return if he is showing ties in Canada...I mean would ties in Canada provide a negative impact to the Immigration Officer...
3. Since he has not yet completed his 12th grade yet, do universities make decision based on 11th grade marks...
what other papers I need to show to present a stronger case to the consulate...
Any other tips for applying for student visa...
Appreciate your response..

1) A 90% marks at Grade 12 Level, will surely get him an entry. Any marks below this percentage is open to competition and there is no way of saying if he has a chance for this years' open seats. Most of them have been applied and assured prior to May. So, take a chance. You need this Assured ENTRANCE into a University prior to applying for a STUDENT VISA.
Ryerson, or the York will be the most suitable one if you are currently living here in Toronto. He may be able to commute out of your place. He will have to pay the FEES, applicable to the Non Resident Students. Current level is about twice that of the local students. Check with the Institution at each location.
Still, he will need to pay his fees and show the required funds. (Proof of Funds) to get a VISA.
Any undergraduate student with a FOUR Year Course will or can obtain a THREE year Work Permit, as of last known publications. That has to be officially verified with the CHC there in India prior to his departure. Also make sure that they will permit him to work during the Off months with a work permit. The rest ensues as time progresses.

To qualify for the Entry he needs the funds to show and then get in. You both can juggle the monies that are shown for entry some how, to keep him here with the Tuition fees and a roof over his head. They will only accept his proof of funds to provide him with his own entry.
The other route is available too, but you become the sponsor and will have to provide the proof of your support with the same/similar funds. SIX of one and HALF A DOZEN of the other.
With the accepted mode, he shows the money to get in. Which he then brings with him when he gets enrolled and lands on his Student Visa.
Now you also know the other route. It is a long route and time consuming. Do it which ever way you want to. He still gets here. Once he gets here, he is your ward. With this mode you enter into the picture and take over the responsibilities and the length of time (duration) it takes him to complete the studies.
