Well said Manjeet. I COMPLETELY agree with you. Having my parents live with me would provide me an immense satisfaction and happiness. This is more a question of emotional happiness than money, economy, or anything else. Very very important - at least for me.

correct...and for the same reasons people like to get educated, even though they could easily get 3 cars in their driveway with a high school diploma. I COMPLETELY agree with you too.

I can see your sarcasm but failed to comprehend what you really want to convey. But, that's alright. I end my part of comments right here. ta..ta...

If parents sponsorship by an immigrant was not allowed. I am sure that 50% of all immigrants would just leave. Some of them are just working and living hand to mouth so that they could sponser their parents to be here and their senior parents can avail all the freebies that the Canadian govts offer like healthcare, welfare (after a waiting period but people kow how to bend the rules), food bank etc.. The Govt. hates these people coming in but as per UN guidelines for taking in immigrants, they need to take refugees as well as parents of immigrants to balance the scale. So that is why the Govt. has to take them and it is not b’cos native born Canadians love to have the parents of immigrants here as these parents can create a havoc to Canadian culture.

Some of the after effects are :

1. Bringing in their old fashioned views (like honour killing, dressing appropriately, respecting elders, not taking drugs, making women dress in the native country cloths, not speaking English, treat the roads of Canada like that of a 3 rd. world country etc..)

2. Over burden the healthcare (doctors in hospitals treat all asian immigrants as refugees (illegal immigrants)/ people sponsored as parents.

3. Take food away from the native born people (in food bank)

Etc.. Etc….

Hope this helps

As parents have their duty to bring us up in right way so, do we have some duties and responsibilities towards our parents. Today, we are educated, earning good salary, having wonder family i.e wife and children, prospering in our life, it is all because of them and their sacrifices.

Please go ahead and bring your parents on visit visa and see whether they like this country and its culture. Apart from all this taxes, his career etc etc , it is thier decision as to whether they would like settle down here or in their own country. They should have freedom to do whatever makes them happy. You don't need forum decision nor discussion on this issue.,

Your father can always work voluntarily to keep himself busy and go from there. Here in canada, you have lots of things to keep yourself busy since you have to do everything by yourself. Many senior citizen especially whites are working voluntarily in school, Govt organisations, charitable institutions, caring for seniors and children etc.

thanks for your honest inputs....
but the whole idea behind me asking in a FORUM is not to discuss if and whether he shud come here or not...All I asked was if anyone was aware of the procedures...

I know what he can do apart from non medical profession...I just wanted to know what chances and options will he have to practice medicine related work...
