Somewhere in between. I qualify for both. Since i have heled an old man and a blind man cross across the stret but yet i have visited Bars and strip joints. so that makes me eligible for both.

What is heaven? Heaven is having :

An American Salary
A British home
A German car
Chinese food
An Indian wife

What is Hell? Hell is having:

An American car and wife
German and British food
Chinese home
And an Indian salary..

Heaven is where ….

The humour is British
The cooks are French
The mechanics German
The lovers Italian
And all organised by the Swiss

Hell is where ….

The humour is German
The mechanics are French
The lovers Swiss
The cooks British
And it is all organised by the Italians

Forgive my ignorance

Is this correct :- People who succeeded in canada are not much interested in forum discussions?

Most people who use this board are from IT (which is a totally diff. ball game) and they respond from work. As you may know, IT people have a lot of free time and hence can post.
Having said that most of the other people who can post from work, may have a slightly higher sucess (may earn $20 an hour +).
The people who post after hours from the house can be equally divided among those who have suceeded and those who have failed. The people who have suceeded have no interest in helping others nor the people who have failed see no point in cribbing in the forum as it does not help them. However people like me who have failed in Canada, constantly encourage people to come to Canada so that you can pay tax and we can enjoy.
Also having said taht, you would be a fool if you come to Canada with $ 6000 Gulf salary as no one (except those in IT, business and Finance) can ever expect to acheive that salary here. But again this depends. If you have a uneducated non english speaking spouse and 6 children all above the age 12 etc.., You can exploit this country. But then if you have have 2 infants (below 6 years-say) and a highly social, educated spouse from a wealthy family, then you must be a fool to immigrate here.

Dear
tamilkuravan,

Thanks for the update. I am from a non IT business. But still looking for correct guidelines, participating in forums. May be in canada I have to struggle to do so.
Thats why I am behind senior CDs to judge and find out where I stand.

Did I got a correct impression that migrating to canada was a foolish business for you?

You know in GULF the biggest problem I came across is that when ever there is any issue--we say "leave it they are locals, any way we do not belong to this place". If you go to a grocery shop the shop keeper will rush to attend local customers (Nationals), though he belongs to your own country he will love to do it. If you go to car wash in your latest model car, attendant will not turn up once he notices you. You have to find him out, you have to chase him to pay.
If a national comes to the same station he will be surrounded by attendants.
And there are many other reasons.

And after working in GULF for years, I never felt that this place is for us.
In INDIA there are other problems like law and order, less paid job, only advantage is that being a National one can fight for rights, In GULF if you are here you should mean business, do your job and leave. you do not have rights.
May be legally you can but practically it is very very difficult.

and getting an 6000CAD$ equivalent amount I have to pay alot with these compromises.

That is why I want to evaluate my decision in terms of money as well as a better secured life where I can retire with people to whom I already know.

Regards

I am really surprised that you plan to come to Canada for the above stated reasons which is quite contrary to what potential Gulf immigrants say which is :
1. I need my kids to be educated in a industralised nation.
2. I want to save in CAD $ which is Rs 44 to a dollar
3. I want to buy a house in Canada and sponser my parents to live with me.
4. i donot mind working in McDonalds as a washroom attenedent
5. Canadian education is free and health care is free.

First of all you need to get a decent job here and earn $. WIthout knowing your full background, it is hard to say anything.
These are the things that you will suffer in Canada (assuming that you donot even have a $ 3000 salary (after taxes). Remember that even this salary is very hard / impossible to get unless you are in IT, Finance or high tech business (and not grocery store , Dollar store business).

1. Canada is cold. It is impossible to roam outside with lungi and banyan for atleast 8 months a year.
2. If you with 20 years MBA expereince and a local 12 std. fail local girl with good english capabilities and low cut dress go to a technical interview, the posibility that the local girl may get the job.
3. If you have an accent, they may not hire you. ( the racism is pretty discreet and it will see that the best qualified man does not get the job).
4. If you scrape your skin, there is a possibility that you will have to wait atleast 6 hours in the emergency before a doctor sees you. The local walk in clinics will not treat you if you have blood oozing.
5. If you have money here, then you are the king (first you need a job to get money). If you are white and have accent, then you are the king to get a job.
6. Cost of living is way over the roof unless you earn atleast $5000 (after tax)a month, you canot even save one penny.
7. Atleast in the Gulf, they pay you 1 or 2 months salary with return flight ticket when they terminate you. Here in Canada, you can be terminated instantly and they will pay you just for that day. Of course some insurance is there (EI-To get around 55% of max 42K annual salary for 45 weeks, but is this enough to pay your bills). The EI was designed to keep the immigrants in Canada with just enough moeny so that he does not starve. Prior to the 2008 recession, almost all locals did not use it.
8. In any company (unless you are in IT or management), you are responsible for cleaning your trash, vaccuming your cubicle, making your own tea, cleaning the washroom after you use it, do errands for your manager etc...
9. you need to fill up your own gas tank in the car (unless you drive to the full serve station where you need to pay tips for the attendent filling the tank up).
10. In canada, there is NO return family round trip fully paid airfare, No free housing, NO free car, No free nanny in any company (unless you are a CEO).
11, In Canada, your leave is just 2 weeks per year (subject that you have a job).
12. In Canada you need to pay income tax as well as 13% HST (tax) on all maufactured things that you pay.
13. In Canada, from your paycheque, EI and CPP deductions will be taken.
14. In Canada, you need to take insurance for your car.
15. In Canada, you canot leave your children alone in the house unless they are atleast 12.
16. In Canada, You need to pay broker fee (real estate) of 5% when you sell a residential propery through them (mostly the only way ) as there are a lot of cheats otherwise.
17. In Canada, your insurance premium for the car will go up if you have a at fault accident.
18. In canada, if you hit a begger in the road by accident, the Cop will charge you (unlike India where you can give a bribe)
19. In Canada, you have no recourse (by the police or judge) if you donot get a job based on your charachetristics....

to end...
20. In canada, you will meet a lot of refugees who are in a much better position than you (though they maynot have known Englsih when they came here)- Even I donto know why

Hope this helps

Peace

Thanks
tamilkuravan

for a detailed description of CANADA life.

See I do not wear a lungi with baniyan even in INDIA. Actually In GULF we have dress code. They will put you in jail.

As I said I am working for manufacturing industry as Automation Engineer and every industry should have this position (which I want to confirm) .
This job needs a bit more competency and I am surprised if "a local 12 std. fail local girl with good english capabilities and low cut dress" can be of some use.
Actually in office people like to have "assets" but when it comes to manufacturing it is money and time which becomes important not "low cut dress".

I just want to follow these points as stated by you

1. I need my kids to be educated in a industralised nation.

Well I think if this is the criteria INDIA is the best

2. I want to save in CAD $ which is Rs 44 to a dollar

If you save in INDIAN banks in INR, interest is very high in comparison to
NRE Dollor account. in CANADA banks charge money from you to keep an account. (Am I right?)

3. I want to buy a house in Canada and sponser my parents to live with me.

Parents are more safe and secure in INDIA as they are there with people they preferred. They can be a visitor to CANADA.(I am surprised if this is one of the reason to be in canada)

4. i donot mind working in McDonalds as a washroom attendant

If one is paying 4-5 lacks INR to get his immigration/landing formalities why he will do a washroom attendant job? He can open a DHABA in india with only investing 60-70K INR. I can assume for survival "yes" but for normal living, I do not think so. This means person doing the job was not doing well in INDIA

5. Canadian education is free and health care is free.

If you are in JOB in INDIA this is also part of your packaged salary. It is followed almost with every GOVT./ private sector

I wish to migrate to CANADA because ( I wish to confirm from CDs )

1) CANADA is a big country / lot of scope to expand
It is 3 times bigger then India (area wise) , population is 10 times less then
INDIA. there are more lakes then people.

2) I spend HALF my life in INDIA/GULF. Rest of life I wish to spend in a more
better place. (Now I am confused if CANADA is a better place)
