It may be a good movie, but frankly I'm tired of these ghisa-pita romantic movies with minor variations on the same theme over and over again. The sad part is a minor variation is a welcome change. Normally, even that is not present.

Here's my first attempt at making a 'STANDARD' hindi movie :

***** THE SETUP *****
Good-looking ,intelligent , but party animal NRI Indian guy with a super-rich Dad and the most loving Mom in the world. Only drives Ferraris and Lamborginis.

Girl in India who is very playful and mischevous . Dresses in spaghetti straps and micro-minis but at the same time a great cook and won't let the hero do anything funny before marriage



***** THE PLOT *****
<-- Our hero falls for the girl



***** THE ROMANCE *****
<-- They run around trees and sing some songs



***** THE PLOT THICKENS *****
<-- Along comes a villian who also wants the girl / Jaydaad.

<-- Meanwhile hero/heoin sing another song.
<-- Villain tells his men to kidnap the girl.

<-- Girl after getting kidnapped.



***** THE CLIMAX *****
<-- Hero's mad when he hears about this and vows to get the girl back

<-- fights and kills all the villians (but spares the main guy for the law) and gets the girl back.

Big celebration, girl guy get married.



***** THE END *****
The director expects the audience to do this and make millions at the same time.

Mix and match the above in a few different ways. Add ingenious ideas like
"What if the Girl was from foreign and guy from India???"
OR
"WAITAMINUTE!!!! What if we shoot the whole movie in Switzerland this time instead of France????"
and you have another Hindi movie.

I'm not surprised Bollywood is having their worst year in History. I think the Indian audience is fed up with this stuff and sending a very clear message to them. We need more movies like Lagaan, movies by people who can actually think.

Idea bahut accha hai. Abhi mein thoda busy hoon, but jab time milega tab ek "Bollywood Plot Generator" program likhunga. Should be simple given the limited number of variables.

And so other people will also write thrid party tools and so people on bench will have some work to do and so not xml, not java but film-generator will be booming technology for next decade!!

A great drama that actually makes you care about the characters.
