desi's , can house owners comment on the summer months without AC? as I do not have AC at home planning to adjust with standing fan this year, have a 1 year old at home, is it possible to do it or should I purchase now(around $2500 which I can better use for something else)?

How's the 2011 summer going to be is anyone's guess. How much heat can your family handle.

Having said that, I spend about 3 years in my house without AC. You do have those real hot days when you feel the need for a AC. But hey if you can put that $2500 to better use, I'd say.. go for it... my 2 cents (Canadian) :D

Depends what you are used to. We seldom use the AC during the summer, and we've lived in Toronto now for a long enough time to see how high temperatures can get. We do switch it on when we have guests over to make them feel more comfortable.

If you really can put the $2500 to better use, it may be a good idea to wait for a while and see whether you are bothered by the summer heat.
