any suggestions on places to visit with kids in usa within 5 hrs frm toronto ? could be good shopping mall...or resort etc. Thanks.
We've previously been to Adirondack Park in upstate NY. Approx. 5.5 hrs drive from TO.
If your family enjoys the water park, here's one place -> http://www.watersafari.com/ at Adirondack. They have a tie-up with the hotel across the street for stay-n-play packages. We just loved it. The rides were not too scary. Even otherwise there are tons of places to visit at the park. We rented a cottage for 3 days and went around the park

Hi Dimple,
The biggest misconception is that Detroit is dangerous..
The only part of Detroit that is dangerous is downtown Detroit..
Most of the detroit suburbs are safe.. I have lived there for 1 year and my family has been there for over 15 years.

Detroit:
Henry Ford Musuem and I-Max, Dearborn off I-94
Greenfield Village, Dearborn off I-94
Twelve Oaks Mall - Novi - off I-96
Downtown - Ren Center, Greektown
Ceasers Windsor Casino (Windsor, ON - yeah, we feel part of Detroit)
Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak - off I-696
Somerset Mall, Troy - off I-75 (I just do window shopping, nice mall)
Not sure if there is anything that you can't find or see in Toronto (which is lot better and safer than city of Detroit)
