The biggest misconception is that Detroit is dangerous..

The only part of Detroit that is dangerous is downtown Detroit..

Most of the detroit suburbs are safe.. I have lived there for 1 year and my family has been there for over 15 years.

Detroit:

Henry Ford Musuem and I-Max, Dearborn off I-94
Greenfield Village, Dearborn off I-94
Twelve Oaks Mall - Novi - off I-96
Downtown - Ren Center, Greektown
Ceasers Windsor Casino (Windsor, ON - yeah, we feel part of Detroit)
Detroit Zoo, Royal Oak - off I-696
Somerset Mall, Troy - off I-75 (I just do window shopping, nice mall)

Not sure if there is anything that you can't find or see in Toronto (which is lot better and safer than city of Detroit)

Check out what I wrote - I stated "city of Detroit" as unsafe, not metro detroit. Also, Downtown Detroit is probably the safest within the city limits, especially the small stretch of Jefferson plus the inner streets around Greektown. :)

Actually, some stretch of Woodward south of 8 mile is also safe...you know the stretch around Fox Theater and DIA (Det Institute of Arts).

So Detroit is safe or not? Looking for a small & specific list (either safe or unsafe) to remember.

We lived in Queen City (Cincinnati) for two years and love the City. Its a small city will all facilities. My favorite list include...

- Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.
- Newport Aquarium (across downtown)
- Great american ball park (for baseball fans)
- Ride the duck (Downtown tour and then ferry to Ohio river)
- Hindu temple (i like lord venkateswara covered full of gold)
- Amma's kitchen (South indian food)
- Coney island (like canada's wonderland)
- National underground rail road freedom center (Historic Museum)

If you are planning in fall, then add oktoberfest zinzinnati festival...
