Hi,
I am thinking about doing a Trans-Canada driving (in my car) from Toronto all the way to Vancouver(one way only) during this summer. Has anyone ever done it and what are your views, suggestions, and pointers?
Could my car withstand all this driving, and if I do have to prepare the car in any specific manner?
How many days are we talking about in general? Of-course, I would be stopping over frequently on my way.
Please advise.
Thanks
Thanks ash. I have CAA already and should be able to top up the coverage.
Do I still need winter tires even though driving during the summers? Just so in case.
I am just concerned about my car if it would withstand this much driving. Would it? Considering, I will be stopping over on my way frequently. I just don't want to end up being at the receiving end; and repent my first ever trans-Canada endeavor by paying for its expansive repairs and maintenace later on. I am a complete naive when it comes to the driving long hauls.
Car I care, driving I don't.

Thanks RBO. The car is Matrix 2009.
Hi Febpreet. I will suggest to get a rental car, which will be more comfortable than Matrix like Sonata. I personally feel for long drives , you should rent a car Full Size car, as it makes your journey comfortable and easy.
Hi Febpreet,
I actually did once from NY to LA and it was boring and tiresome in the midwest. I am planning to do this summer from TO to BC to explore rockies and vancouver. But i am afraid of being the only driver and previous experience of dry lands untill calgary, i am thinking of taking "Taipan" 9 days tour to vancover and flying back.
also thinking of flying to calgary and renting car to drive thru rockies and reaching vancover and flying back.
I did bookmarked TA link for this trip (my home PC) and will send you in the evening. If you are travelling single, then u r most welcome to join us as i might do a road trip due to abnormal prices of flight and uncomfortable travel thru bus.
PM me with your schedule so if it matches we can go together.

Rental SUV will be the best bet !! the distance is too much for a domesticated car !! do'nt you love your car anymore , febpreet ?
i will suggest CDs, cell/laptop chargers sockets, sleeping bag, a blanket, dry fruit packs, repair tool kit and lot of water bottles.
My many trips from NY to TO , I used seat massager which kept the blood flowing through my lumber and thighs. Invest 50$s, its worth for the long drives.
